Beadmakers do not (usually) achieve creative freedom until they possess an ingrained understanding of hot glass and how it responds. This skill can be expedited by becoming knowledgeable of and comfortable with fundamental techniques, such as mastering bead shaping (Just Plain Beads!) and the application of dots.
Dot, Dot, Dots! by Deanna Griffin Dove fits the bill perfectly and is not to be missed by beadmakers of all experience levels. It provides clearly written and detailed information along with excellent step-by-step (process) photos.
This book contains more than solid basic techniques - it shows beautiful examples of how simple dot beads can evolve into complex art glass. I am delighted to give it a ‘thumbs up!’

Dot, Dot, Dots! by Deanna Griffin Dove is the ideal follow-up to Just Plain Beads! by Dove and Marjorie Langston. Crisp, clean presentation coupled with excellent photos and a logical layout makes this book a perfect reference tool. This one will stay on the bench, not in the bookcase!

Just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying your new book. I got it in the mail yesterday and am just finishing my second read-through. I think it's the next best thing to watching someone work on their beads and giving advice along the way. The information about pressure and flattening is so useful. I had thought that flattening was only used for large stacks of dots. Also, the tips on making adjustments are priceless. So much more than just adding or taking away glass.

DOT, DOT, DOTS! is wonderful. Basic, but helps you review any issues that you have with DOTS.
I love it!!! More, more, more.
--Barbara Collins Barteau
I wanted to let you know how much I value your new Dots book, as well as 'Just Plain Beads'. I'm a relatively new beadmaker, and I find that your explanations are beatifully clear, and the photographs are excellent. I am working on bead forms now, and keep your books next to my torch to coach me as I teach myself.

Just rec'd my new copy of dot, dot, dots! and could not put it down til i made my way thru the whole book. You have done a marvelous job of explaining very clearly how to do different dot formations and manipulations, in an open-ended way so we can easily incorporate it into our own style. Many of your explanations were things i have become very curious about in the past months, so the timing was perfect. I feel like i just took a class! I can hardly wait to try some new things tomorrow! Thanks for a careful, fabulous effort.
--Gayl Harner
I read somewhere this was a great introduction to the basics of dot making. Dot, Dot, Dots! does start with the basics, but its a book for all levels. I think the writing is so understandable and easy to follow that it makes it seem like this is a book about the basics, when really it helps with every dot technique. Thanks for a wonderful guide.
--Sally Remington
Wonderful technique book--it answered all my questions! I can't wait for the next book in the series...your books are so detailed and helpful with questions I didn't know I had. Keep writing them.

My books arrived and they are fabulous. In one day I went from creating blobs to something that resembles a desirable glass bead. Your information is invaluable and thoroughly clarifies critical information one often misses in the excitement of real time lessons.
After reading your second book and applying even more of your wonderful techniques (2 days on) I finally have 4 beads that I'd be proud to say "I made them".
