– Tink Martin
Clear pictures, wonderful instructions, and what I like most, an explanation why glass moves a certain way. I would recommend this book to both beginners as well as to more advanced beadmakers.

Although the “Just Plain Beads!” is beautifully illustrated and laid out, it is not intended to be simply displayed as a coffee-table book. Each image is an instructive aid, not just eye candy. It's clearly created to be used for hands-on learning by the torch. The soft cover and simple binding keep it accessible for beginners on a budget and there is a bulk discount for teachers who would like to distribute the book to their students.
“Just Plain Beads!” is a very good value for the money, and readers are already starting to rave about it. It should have a place on the shelves of beginner’s lampworking instructors, their students, and experienced lampworkers who want fresh perspectives on the basics that underpin great art beads. Strongly recommended!

This book has really helped advance my skill level. As a beadmaker of 1 1/2 years, I am always wanting to jump into the decoration before geting the basic of the bead shape first. With the wonderful grapics and easy to understand instructions, it has helped me slow down and get the basics right.

I am so thrilled with your new book. I've read it probably 3 times. I am now making round beads, beads that are uniformly shaped and sized, and my patterns are uniform. I have fallen in love all over again with lampworking. Thank you both so much.

Your new book arrived today and I think it is just super! I really like the focus of the book. Y’all have answered questions that I’ve never seen addressed in other books. The chapter on adjustment techniques is my favorite; I’ve had all sorts of AH HA moments while reading it.
--Chris Dalrymple
Wonderful book! For those of us without access to all the great resources that seem to be available in America, this book is a fantastic alternative teacher. I would highly recommend it to all beginners.

Great book for all levels of beadmakers, good for seasoned beadmakers as well as new comers
to the art. If I ever get around to teaching regularly it will definitely be on my recommended list...
and I'm in it!

Just Plain Beads! is the first book I have found which REALLY addresses specific problems all lampworkers encounter when shaping beads;and gives clear directions on how to solve them! It is a must have for anyone who appreciates and wants to make beautiful glass beads. I give this book a 1000 on a 1 to 10 scale! :)
--Pamela Barton
I want to complement you on your "Just Plain Beads" book. I reread it and it was even better the second time. It offered the detail that one can't absorb after one workshop, no matter how good the instructor, and allowed me to pick back up and teach myself because of it's clear instruction. Now I just ordered your Dots book and can't wait to get it. WONDERFUL writing and photos.
--Marley Beers
I bought your books at the Bead & Button in June in Milwaukee this year. Only just got round to reading them! I'm a lampworking teacher and find your books very useful in again learning my students these beadmaking techniques, thank you for that!
--Monique de Jong
I've been teaching beadmaking and other objects made with soft glass for four years and am so thankful that someone base finally written a book on the core bead! Most beginners want to jump right into the "fancy" stuff and don't fully appreciate the importance of the "canvas" they are working on. If I could afford to I would provide every beginning student with a copy of this book. As it is, it will be on the top of my list of reading material & resources from now on. Thank you so much for writing it!
